COLUMBIA CITY – Franklin Marker, 93, of Warsaw, died at 4:05 p.m. Nov. 6, 2012, in Kosciusko Community Hospital, Warsaw.
He was born July 15, 1919, in Noble County, to Franklin and Renie Hile Marker. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Delores I, Marker. He has been married to Gladys M. Marker for 28 years.
He graduated from Wolf Lake High School in the late 1930s. After graduation, he served in the U.S. Army during World War II building Liberty Ships and teaching artillery. He spent most of his adult lifetime in the Tri-Lakes area, moving to Warsaw about 22 years ago. For many years he worked as a maintenance supervisor for American Hoist & Derrick, Fort Wayne. He was a member of Post 253 American Legion, North Webster.
Also surviving are eight children: Frank (and spouse Dorothy) Marker, Arkansas; Joy (and spouse Wade) King, Huntsville, Texas; Susan (and spouse Alan) Borneman, Fishers; Marsha Coon, Warsaw; Steven (and spouse Carol) Heeter, Nappanee; Jack Heeter (and Marge Kiggler), Leesburg; Randy (and spouse Beverly) Marker, Albion; and Ronnie Marker, Lake Jackson, Texas; and  many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He also was preceded in death by a son, three brothers and sister.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at DeMoney-Grimes Countryside Park Funeral Home, Columbia City, officiated by Sharon Brockhaus, certified funeral celebrant. Graveside military honors and committal service will be at Christian Chapel Cemetery, Merriam.
