WABASH - Franklin D. Brandenburg, 84, of rural Wabash, passed away peacefully at 12:45 p.m. Feb. 23, 2011, in his residence.
He was born May 2, 1926, in Silver Lake, to Charles and Elta Caufman Brandenburg. On Oct. 2, 1948, he married Betty Garrson, who survives.
He graduated from Sidney High School in 1945 and retired from Diehl Machines after 40 years as a chief industrial engineer. He was a member of Church of Christ of Treaty and served in the U.S. Army. He had a great zeal for life, a passion for getting things done and an unlimited sense of humor. His life's focus was his Lord and his family. His smile, laughter and helping helping hands will be missed by many.
Also surviving are a son, Rick (and spouse Janice) Brandenburg, Raleigh, N.C.; a daughter, Cindy (and spouse Steven) Flint, Indianapolis; two sisters, Doris Ebbinghouse, North Manchester, and June Brandenburg, Kokomo; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three brothers, three sisters and his parents.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Church of Christ at Treaty, Wabash, with Pastor Doug Oakes officiating.
Calling is one hour prior to the service Saturday at the church.
McDonald Funeral Home, 231 Falls Ave., Wabash, is in charge of arrangements.
