Frank Schutt Sr.Frank Schutt Sr., 89, of Albuquerque, N.M., passed away unexpectedly Saturday, March 5, 2022, at the University of New Mexico Hospital, Albuquerque, N.M.

He was born June 9, 1932, in Ireton, Iowa, to Sidney and Hendrene Van Wijk Schutt.

Frank was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was married to his beautiful bride and love of his life, Betty, for 60 years before her death in 2014.

In his early years, he was a carpenter building homes and later worked at Wabash Electric in Warsaw before his retirement. Throughout his entire life, he enjoyed building just about anything, working on cars, fixing motors and tinkering with all sorts of items in his garage workshop. There wasn’t anything he couldn’t fix. His pride and joy was his collection of just about every tool you could imagine and he loved buying them whether he needed them or not. He truly enjoyed trying to pass on his knowledge to his sons and grandchildren. When he wasn’t fixing something or telling stories, he loved to read cowboy novels and watch any old black and white cowboy movies he could find on TV.

He was a man of great integrity and set a wonderful example for his family and will be deeply missed.

Surviving are his two sons: Jim (Deb) Schutt, of Albuquerque, N.M.; and Rob (Michelle) Schutt, of Minot, N.D.; and four grandchildren: Kyle (Carolyn) Walker, of Anchorage, Alaska; Kimberly Walker, of Black Mountain, N.C.; Adam (Tia) Schutt, of Fargo, N.D.; and Ashley Schutt, of Milwaukee, Wis.

Preceding in death were his parents; wife, Betty Schutt; and one son, Frank D. Schutt Jr.

A funeral celebrating his life will be held at 12 p.m. Saturday, March 19 at Graceland Cemetery Chapel, 1505 E. Morthland Drive, Valparaiso. Visitation and viewing will be held from 11 a.m. until time of service. Burial will follow the service in the cemetery. Sunset Funeral Home is caring for the arrangements.
