PIERCETON - Frank D. Barr Sr., 84, of 764 N. Ind. 13, Pierceton, died at 7:10 p.m. Dec. 27, 2008, in Select Speciality Hospital, Fort Wayne.

He was born Nov. 3, 1924, in McKeesport, Pa., to Elmer Russell and Laurel Grace Greggerson Barr. On May 31, 1953, he married Margaret Ann Wells, who died Feb. 5, 2001.

Living in Warsaw since 1974, he was a quality control engineer for Zimmer Inc. He worked at Ligonier Rubber, then teaching Industrial Quality Assurance. He was a member of St. Anne's Episcopal Church, Warsaw; Warsaw Senior Center; and Wawasee Boat Club. He graduated from the University of Pittsburgh and was a World War II U.S. Navy veteran. He enjoyed sail boating and gardening. He was an instructor for the Coast Guard Auxiliary.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Anne's Episcopal Church, Warsaw, with the Revs. Daniel H. Martins and Brian Grantz officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Hillcrest Cemetery, Pierceton.

Calling is from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and from 9 to 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at the church.

McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Pierceton, is in charge of arrangements.
