Frank Bays, 67, of North Manchester, died at 6:50 a.m. Feb. 27, 2012, in his residence.
He was born March 31, 1944, in Floyd County, Prestonsburg, Ky., to Sammie Jr. and Dora Miller Bays. On March 2, 1968, in Packerton, he married Sadie Prater, who survives.
He graduated from Prestonsburg High School in 1963. He worked at Dalton Foundry as an iron carrier and was a longtime farmer. He was a member of Highway 13 Free United Baptist Church, Warsaw, and Silver Lake Coon Hunters Club. He also was active in helping in the 4-H Club over the years serving as an advisory member. He was always a hard worker and enjoyed his hobbies of hunting, fishing and family time.
Also surviving are a daughter, Joni (and spouse Brian) Westerberg, North Manchester; two sisters, Alice (and spouse Paul) Surface, Akron, and Karla (and spouse Vick) Lee, Burnsville, Minn.; four brothers: Carl (and spouse Renessa) Bays and Ken (and spouse Diane) Bays, all of Akron; Keith (and spouse Phyllis) Bays, Pierceton; and Earl (and spouse Lavone) Bays, Garrett, Ky.; and grandchildren Justin and Jacob Westerberg. He is preceded in death by his parents.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, 2290 Provident Court, Warsaw, with the Rev. Alvin “Hoss” Allen officiating. Burial will be in Lake View Cemetery, Silver Lake.
