AKRON - Francis C. Davis, 87, of 601 E. Rochester St., Akron, died at 2:25 p.m. July 6, 2008, in his residence.

He was born Nov. 25, 1921, in Akron, to Harvey and Faye Kamp Davis. On Sept. 6, 1940, he married Ina Taylor, who survives.

Loving most of his life in Akron, he served in the U.S. Army for 24 years, retiring in 1962. He worked at KG Brown, Mentone, for 18 years. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars and Moose, Eagle and Masonic lodges, all in Rochester. He was an Akron High School graduate and received a pilot's license in 1953.

Also surviving are two sons, Frances R. "Butch" (and spouse Wanda) Davis, Akron, and William H. Davis, Jeffersonville; two brothers, Richard L. (and spouse Joan) Davis, Burket, and Marvin L. (and spouse Lenora) Davis, Warsaw; two sisters, Juanita C. Plunkett, Tell City, and Mildred C. Creager, North Manchester; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by a brother.

Private services and calling will be Tuesday at Earl-Love Funeral Home, Akron, with the Rev. Allen Barton officiating. Burial will be in Akron Cemetery.
