Frances Ice Head

MARION - Frances Ice Head, 87, died Oct. 8, 2009, in Peabody Retirement Home, North Manchester.

She was born Aug. 5, 1922, in Noblesville, to Clayde and Harriette O. Vanbentheisen West. On Aug. 22, 1943, she married Francis Ice, who died in February 1974. She married Lawrence Head, who died Sept. 19, 1981.

She was a longtime resident of Marion and Silver Lake. She retired from General Tire and the Red Cross. She was a member of Center United Methodist Church, Silver Lake, the Democrat Party, and the county advisory board.

Surviving are five children: William "Bill" Ice, Marion; Joyce (and spouse David) Madigan, Clay City; John (and spouse Marleen) Ice, Noblesville; Suzannah (and spouse J.R.) Cramer, Huntington; Joseph (and spouse Teresa) Ice, Marion; two sisters, Kate Smith, West LaFayette, and Bee Snow, Kokomo; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother and two sisters.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Owen-Weilert-Duncan Funeral Home, Marion Chapel, 2722 S. Washington St., Marion, with Pastor Terry Maker officiating. Burial will be in Grant Memorial Park Cemetery.

Calling is from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
