Fourth-Ranked Tigers Win at Orchard Ridge

FORT WAYNE — Playing at Fort Wayne’s Orchard Ridge Country Club Monday, the fourth-ranked Warsaw Tigers defeated Homestead 157-172.

Warsaw was paced by Jon Schram’s one-under 35, followed by Jonny Hollar’s 38, Bennett Hollar’s 42, Tyler Ostrom’s 42 and Tim Ahlersmeyer’s 45.

The Tigers return to Fort Wayne Thursday, taking on Fort Wayne Blackhawk at Cherry Hill Golf Course.

Hosting John Glenn and Mishawaka at Rozella Ford Golf Club Monday, the 14th-ranked Triton Trojans recorded two wins. Shooting a 161 on the par-35 course, Triton bested Glenn’s 189 and Mishawaka’s 195. Triton junior Quentyn Carpenter finished with a one-over 36, with the next best score being a 40, shot by Glenn’s Tyler Prentkowski. The 5-0 Trojans are back at Rozella Ford today, hosting Elkhart Memorial, Jimtown and Elkhart Christian.

The Tippecanoe Valley boys golf team defeated Knox 165-218 Monday at Mill Creek Golf Course in Rochester. Valley’s Kevin Summe finished with a one-under 35, followed by teammate Teddy Shepherd’s 39. The Vikings are back on the links Thursday, traveling to Pond View Golf Course in Star City to take on Caston and North Miami.

Hosting Pioneer Monday evening, the Tippecanoe Valley baseball team posted a 12-2 win in five innings of work. Of the 12 Valley runs, Jacob Ritchey, Dan Miller, Tanner Andrews, Isaac Shewman and Jarred Littlejohn each scored two. Andrews also posted five RBIs and two doubles. The Vikings are at South Bend Adams Thursday.

The Whitko baseball team polished off the West Noble Chargers by a 15-4 count in five innings Monday in Ligonier. Alex Stoddard was the winning pitcher, going three innings, with Zach Snep coming in to pitch the final two. Riley Cokl went 2 for 3 for the Wildcats, driving in four runs. The 6-2 Wildcats host Peru Wednesday at 5 p.m.

Opening its Northern State Conference schedule up at Knox Monday, the Triton baseball team got an 11-7 victory. Cole Creighbaum was the winning pitcher, going five innings and striking out seven. Offensively, Bryson Mosier, Zak Shively and Pete Kauffman each had two hits, with Erik Hoffman posting a game-high four RBIs. The Trojans are back in NSC play Wednesday, hosting John Glenn at 5 p.m.

The Manchester defense committed eight errors in a 7-0 home loss to Oak Hill Monday night. The shaky defense helped Oak Hill plated six unearned runs, and gave Connor McLaughlin the loss. Despite being hit with the loss, McLaughlin went all seven innings, giving up just five hits and one earned run, striking out 12. The 2-4 Squires are at Eastbrook today at 5 p.m.

The Manchester girls track and field team picked up a pair of wins Monday in Fulton, scoring 84 points, followed by North Miami’s 44 and Caston’s 28. Winning 13 of 15 events, Manchester’s Niki Frieden won the shot put (30-9) and discus (90-6), Bekah Brunn won the 100 hurdles (16.5) and 200 (29.4) and Lindsey Budnik took first in the high jump (4-10) and long jump (15-8). The Lady Squires will be at Saturday’s Churubusco Relays.
