SYRACUSE -ÊFour North Webster teens were injured, one seriously, in an accident on Syracuse-Webster Road Thursday afternoon.
Amanda Rensberger, 16, North Webster, was a passenger in the front seat of a car driven by Danielle N. Devalk, 16, also of North Webster, when the car hit a tree. Devalk was traveling south on Syracuse-Webster Road in a 1991 Pontiac 6000 when she lost control of the car in a curve at CR 1100N, left the eastern side of the road and hit a tree.
All four occupants were trapped in the car and had to be extricated by the Syracuse Fire Department.
Once freed from the vehicle, Rensberger, who suffered extensive injuries, was airlifted by Lutheran Air Ambulance to Parkview Hospital, Fort Wayne, where she was listed in critical condition this morning.
DeValk and the backseat passengers, Kristen Bardsley and Kristen Lemairte, both 15 and of North Webster, suffered leg injuries in the crash. After they were extricated from the car, the three girls were taken to Kosciusko Community Hospital for treatment.
The accident remains under investigation by the Kosciusko County Sheriff's Department. The Syracuse Police Department, Syracuse Fire Department, Syracuse EMS, North Webster EMS and Lutheran Air Ambulance assisted at the scene.
