MILFORD - Four people were injured, one critically, in a three-vehicle accident this morning near the intersection of CRs 300E and 1100N.
The driver of one of the vehicles was airlifted from Goshen Airport to Memorial Hospital in South Bend after the 5:36 a.m. accident. The driver's name was not available as of press time; the man did not have identification with him and the car was registered to a woman with whom he does not reside, officials said. The man was pinned in the wreckage of the vehicle he was driving and he reportedly suffered severe head and chest injuries.
Also injured were the drivers of the other two vehicles: Paul Akers, 47, North Barbee Road, Warsaw, and Robert Coy, 30, West Boston Street, Syracuse. A passenger in Akers' vehicle also suffered injuries, but that person's name and the extent of injuries for all three were not available. Akers and the passenger from his car were taken to Goshen General Hospital for treatment and Coy was transported to Kosciusko Community Hospital, Warsaw.
Akers and Coy were apparently northbound on CR 300E and the other driver was southbound on CR 300E when the accident occurred. The cause of the accident remains under investigation by the Kosciusko County Sheriff's Department.
