MILFORD - A Leesburg man faces several criminal charges after an incident near Milford early Saturday morning.
Adam Pickering, 20, of 45 EMS T30 Lane, Leesburg, faces one count of leaving the scene of a personal injury accident, criminal recklessness with a vehicle, possession of marijuana and possession/consumption of alcohol by a minor in Kosciusko Superior Court II.
Pickering reportedly was at a party at 2421 E. CR 1300N, Milford, when he was asked to go to bed or leave. As Pickering was trying to leave, he reportedly backed into another person's car.
Pickering told police that the car's owner, Dustin Cloud, 21, Fort Wayne, allegedly pulled Pickering from his vehicle and struck him in the eye. Pickering then said he got back in his own vehicle and left the scene of the accident.
While leaving several witnesses told police that Pickering hit three people with his car while leaving the residence. Cloud suffered a broken wrist, a broken toe, knee pain and had some road rash and was taken to Goshen Hospital for treatment. Cory Johnson, who said he also was hit by Pickering's vehicle, said he was not injured and refused medical treatment.
The third person allegedly hit by the car was Cale Erwin, 20, who was found hiding in a bean field near the residence. Police said Erwin was extremely intoxicated and suffered road rash to his right lower leg and left elbow. He was treated at Kosciusko Community Hospital.
Police stopped Pickering's car near the intersection of CRs 250E and 1400N. When police approached the car, they noted that Pickering had a large welt and redness to his left eye.
Pickering was taken to KCH for treatment, and his car was impounded.
The car, a red 1998 BMW, had damage to its front windshield, front passenger corner and grill, driver's side rearview mirror and hood. Pickering allegedly told police all that damage was old, and said he did not recall hitting anyone.
When Pickering's vehicle was searched, police reportedly found marijuana in the center console.
Cloud reportedly did not tell police he hit Pickering; however, information regarding a misdemeanor battery charge was forwarded to the Kosciusko County Prosecutor's Office regarding Cloud.
The incident remains under investigation by the Kosciusko County Sheriff's Department.
Picker was arrested Saturday morning on charges of driving while intoxicated, leaving the scene of a personal injury accident, possession of marijuana, and possession/consumption of alcohol by a minor.
His bond was $10,000.
Erwin also was arrested Saturday morning on charges of possession/consumption of alcohol by a minor.
