Few details are being released about an accident that claimed the lives of four people in Whitley County Tuesday afternoon.
Around 3:47 p.m. Tuesday, a 1999 Plymouth Neon was northbound on Ind. 5 near Division Road, when it collided with a southbound GMC Yukon.
According to the Whitley County Sheriff's Department, the Neon was attempting to pass in a no-passing zone.
Four people, two males and two females, were in the Neon at the time of the crash, and all reportedly were killed. The names of the victims have not yet been released.
The Yukon was driven by John R. Brooks, 56, of Roanoke, who complained of pain and was taken to Parkview Hospital.
The Neon was listed as a total loss, while $10,000 damage was done to the Yukon.
The Whitley County Sheriff's Department was assisted at the scene by the Whitley County coroner.
