Founding Principles

Posted
Editor, Times-Union,

It amazes me that there are people in this country who are in favor of ending the principles and values on which this Republic was founded. The purpose of the American Dream was for people to become as successful and as happy as they wanted to be and you were not to be criticized by your peers or your government. People like Benny Hively, who writes like a Marxist, want to punish individual Americans who are more successful than the rest of us.

Of course, the new government control of health care mandates how health insurance companies operate by telling them they cannot deny coverage based on pre-existing conditions or children up until the age of 26 can stay on their parents insurance. One question for any local socialist who wants to answer, people are considered adults at 18, what authority does the government have to mandate that parents have to take care of their children until they are 26? Now it is sad that insurance companies were able to deny care to children with pre-existing conditions. However, for some reason, the health insurance companies have not seen the profit potential for this coverage via market-based forces. Instead the government tells insurance companies how to run their business. Instead, we as the market for health insurance, needed to tell insurance companies with our pocket books that we want them to cover children with pre-existing conditions.

These national and local Marxists want to hijack our Republic. They want to unionize workers all for the sake of expanding their own wealth off the backs of the workers they claim to represent. At the same time, these Marxists are blaming corporations for our problems, yet if you look at our history, it is big corporations who have made this country as great as it is. How many people became rich off Bill Gates and Microsoft? Would Bill Gates or others get as rich if people like Benny Hively get their way?

Now the local Marxists around here might label me an "agent of Fox News, " or a "Beck Record Machine," yet, it is possible that they watch the same news stories as I do. The only difference is that I did not need Fox News or Glenn Beck to see how bad this country is becoming. This country is at a crossroads and the cause of these problems has been career politicians who are using their offices to further their own interests and their own wealth. It is these career politicians, Republicans and Democrats, who are saying that corporations are the problem. Career politicians are telling the people that the government knows what is best for the people. Career politicians need to learn real quickly that the voters are the ultimate boss, not the lobbyists, corporate, unions or otherwise. So when you go to the polls, it does not matter who you vote for - in fact, do not even look at the party, just vote for your choice as the best candidate.
