NORTH WEBSTER - A Fort Wayne man who allegedly battered, confined and put a gun in his girlfriend's mouth Thursday afternoon is in custody at the Kosciusko County Jail.

Nathaniel K. Duval, 22, of 15007 S. Harbourside, Fort Wayne, was booked into the Kosciusko County Jail for criminal confinement, intimidation with a weapon, misdemeanor battery and resisting/fleeing law enforcement. He is being held on $10,000 bond.

According to the Kosciusko County Sheriff's Department, Duval reportedly was angry and intoxicated when he went to a residence in Syracuse where he forced his 21-year-old girlfriend to leave and go to her residence, which is next to Tranter Graphics on Ind. 13, North Webster.

The victim told police that once the couple arrived at her home, Duval allegedly battered her and confined her for more than three hours. While inside the home, Duval reportedly put a .410 shotgun into her mouth and pulled the trigger.

When Duval was taking the woman back to the vehicle to leave, she was able to escape and ran to Tranter Graphics for help.

Around 4:31 p.m., officers from the Kosciusko County Sheriff's Department and the North Webster Police Department received a call about the incident and responded to Tranter Graphics.

When officers arrived, they found Duval walking across the parking lot of the business. He was taken into custody and then transported to Kosciusko Community Hospital when he requested treatment for injuries he reportedly received from the victim.

While in the emergency room, officers told Duval that he was going to be taken to jail, and Duval became irate. He tried to flee from police and had to be subdued.

The victim was also taken to KCH for treatment of the injuries she reportedly received during the battery and confinement.
