ROCHESTER - Forrest "Dee" Hounshell, 74, of 1217 Jefferson St., Rochester, died at 5 a.m. May 28, 2009, in his residence.
He was born July 13, 1934, in Rochester, to Ora "Orlie" and Ethel Huff Hounshell. On June 19, 1960, in Rochester, he married Arlene Bathrick, who survives.
He lived most his life in Fulton County, except for three years in Arizona. After graduating from Richland Center High School in 1953, he entered the U.S. Army. He was a bulk milk route owner, operating in the Monterey and Culver area into the Dean Milk Co., and later drove for Coachman Industries. He was involved in Swinging Dudes Square Dance Club and was a charter member of Rochester Jaycees, Rochester Lion's Club, Richland Center IOOF and Moose Lodges. With his son, he was a member of the Boy Scouts and was involved in the Girl Scouts with his wife and daughters. He was a member of First Christian Church.
Also surviving are a son, Jason (and spouse Angie) Hounshell, Mentone; five daughters: Cindy (and spouse Dave) Steininger, Rochester; Penny (and spouse Don) Bills, Wolcottville; and Debbie (and spouse Mike) Walter, Nappanee; Jodi (and spouse Andrew) Fincher, Akron; and Holly (and spouse John) Fearnow, Greenfield; 13 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sisters and a brother.
A private family service will be held. Burial will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Rochester.
Calling is from 2 to 6 p.m. Saturday at New Life Church, Rochester.
