Michael L. Pearson, 37, of South Cherry Street, Akron, was sentenced Monday in Kosciusko Superior Court in connection with charges of sexual misconduct with a minor.
Pearson was sentenced to four years jail time, with the sentence suspended to four months in jail and the remainder to be served on probation. Pearson received two months' credit for time served prior to the trial.
Pearson, a former Tippecanoe Valley High School band director, allegedly "did perform or submit to deviate sexual conduct" with a 15-year-old male. The class C felony carried a four-year maximum sentence.
Pearson also will have to pay a $200 fine, court costs, victim's legal fees and a child abuse prevention fee.
