Former County Sheriff, Administrator Ron Robinson Dies At 78

Kosciusko’s first county administrator and a former sheriff, Ron Robinson, of Etna Green, died Monday at age 78.
A Syracuse High School graduate, he was known for his public service to his community.
In 1969, he began his career in law enforcement as a deputy with the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department. In 1975, he became the Syracuse police chief, and later served as captain under Sheriff Al Rovenstine from 1978 to 1986, according to his obituary. Robinson was elected sheriff in 1986, serving a four-year term. He was a detective until 1994 when he became the first county administrator, serving in that role until he retired in 2016.
He didn’t stop serving his community when he retired, but devoted his time to a number of boards, including the Kosciusko Board of Zoning Appeals.
He was married to Debra from 1974 until her passing in 2018. He is survived by two daughters, a son, six grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and a brother.
Visitation is scheduled for 3 to 6 p.m. Dec. 23 at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, Warsaw, with a service at 6 p.m. Burial will be at a later date in Syracuse Cemetery.
