WINONA LAKE – Two newly formed community ensembles, Northern Lakes Flute Ensemble and Classical Guitar Ensemble, are officially launched. These ensembles are open to community musicians in high school and beyond. The director of the Flute Ensemble is Arturo Osario, and Scott Workman is the director of the Classical Guitar Ensemble. Registration for each of these ensembles may be found at www.northernlakesmusicstudio.comThe Northern Lakes Flute Ensemble aims to 1) assist members in their foundational growth through the flute ensemble; 2) assist growth in flute technique related to tuning, sound quality–color of the instrument, and blending–learning when to change the color while tuning within the ensemble; 3) assist in the knowledge of standard flute ensemble repertoire and other challenging flute ensemble literature; 4) assist members in learning how to use their instrument within the environment of solo and flute chamber music; and 5) to assist musical growth by creating an enjoyable academic environment, while promoting the artistry of the flute. The ensemble consists of flute players ranging from the junior, senior in high school, college, through the professional level. The Classical Guitar Ensemble, under the direction of Scott Workman, is intended to prepare students for and provide experience in ensemble playing. “Many times the classical guitarist is limited to playing primarily solo works. However, learning how to be a viable part of a performing ensemble is an invaluable tool in preparing the student to become a complete musician,” said Workman. Students also will be trained in all aspects of performing in a formal concert situation, and will be exposed to repertoire that will expand their musical horizons. The ensemble will be beneficial for the community as it will educate and expose the audience to the rich repertoire of the classical guitar. Northern Lakes Music Studio is pleased to introduce these two ensembles to the community for those who enjoy playing flute and classical guitar. “We are fortunate to have two experienced directors within our community that will lead these ensembles with excellence in musicianship and integrity,” said Dr. Ardis Faber.
