NAPPANEE ­– Florence Elizabeth Slabaugh, 101, passed away at 6:15 p.m. Oct. 2, 2016, at Miller’s Merry Manor, Wakarusa.
She was born Aug. 17, 1915, in Nappanee, to Edward and Gertrude Hartman George. On Oct. 14, 1939, in Nappanee, Florence and Paul E. Slabaugh were united in marriage. He preceded her in death on Oct. 11, 1989.
She was a lifelong resident of Nappanee.
She worked in the office for many years at Mutschler Kitchens. She was a lifetime member of First Church of God, Nappanee. The church was a very important aspect of her life, and she enjoyed teaching Sunday school and nursery school. She also enjoyed quilting with the women of the church.
She was very active in Christian Women Connection. She loved her family and will be dearly missed.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Fred and Carolyn Slabaugh, Nappanee; three grandchildren: Debra (and spouse Ken) Julian, Pamela (and spouse Jerry) Klotz and Catherine Slabaugh; and four great-grandchildren: Caroline (and spouse Taylor) Anglemyer, Quinci Julian, Hayden Klotz and Hannah Klotz.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded by three sisters and four brothers: Fern, Marialyce, Virginia, Jake, Tom, Hershel “Rick” and Wyman.
A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at First Church of God, 72036 CR 7, Nappanee. Pastor Sam Bennett will officiate. Graveside services and burial will follow at Hepton Union Cemetery, Nappanee.
Friends may visit with the family from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday and from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at the church.  
Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel, South Bend, is assisting with arrangements.
