BOURBON – Florence C. Kreiter,  77, of Bourbon, passed away at 5:17 p.m. April 28, 2012, in Bremen Health Care Center. She fought a courageous 3-1/2-year battle with ovarian cancer.

She was born Feb. 9, 1935, in Rolla, Ark., to Clarence Sr. and Rachel Brown Futch. On April 7, 1953, in Donaldson, Ark., she married Thomas C Kreiter, who died Aug. 8, 1987.

She had worked at Biomet for 19 years and the Bourbon Public Library for more than 12 years. She enjoyed reading Christian fiction books and the Bible. She also loved cooking, baking and gardening.

She was a devoted E.M.T. for more than 18 years, serving the Tippecanoe and Bourbon area. She was one of the first volunteer EMTs certified in Indiana. She was a member of United Church of God in Elkhart.

Surviving are three children: Thomas R. (and spouse Donna L.) Kreiter, Tippecanoe; John C. Kreiter, Bradenton, Fla.; and Linda J. (and spouse James B.) Whybrew, Bourbon; five grandchildren: Josh Kreiter; Tommi J. (and spouse Marcin) Stanko; Jamie L. (and spouse Matt) Poore; Nathan C. Kreiter; and Ciera L. Whybrew; three great-grandchildren, Brianna and Ryan Kreiter and Baby Stanko; a brother-in-law, Larry A. Rush, Tippecanoe; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; five sisters: Francis Manning, Katheryn Buck, Rebecca Rush, Joy Crumpler and Faith Futch; and a brother, Clarence Futch Jr.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Deaton-Clemens Funeral Home, 115 S. Main St., Bourbon, with Pastor Shawn Cortelyou officiating. Burial will be in Tippecanoe Cemetery.

Calling is from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
