Editor, Times-Union: In response to “Flag Flip-Flop” in the Monday, Nov. 7 issue, it is important to remember that our country’s official “Pledge of Allegiance” states: “I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the Republic for which it stands, one nation under God . . .” (Underlining is mine for emphasis.) Without attempting to assess protocol, the printed visual of the flag flip-flop is profoundly symbolic of what that portion of the pledge is supposed to mean. Tom Williams Warsaw, via email
