Editor, Times-Union: The editorial comments referencing the U.S. Flag Code are incomplete. When displayed with other flags, at the same height, the US Flag will always be displayed to the flag’s own right, or the viewers left. This is known as the “place of honor,” and allows our flag to maintain its proper place in order-of-precedence. This would mean that Paragon Medical’s US Flag should be on the westernmost flagpole, if they are all of the same height.
I would also like to note to all veterans that the US Flag Code was changed in recent years to allow veterans to render a military salute during the Pledge of Allegiance, National Anthem, raising and lowering of the flag and other events when rendering honors would be appropriate.
Sincerely, David M. Hudson, Sr. US Army, Retired Mentone, via e-mail
