Flag Etiquette

Editor, Times-Union:

In regard to Miss Leek's Nov. 20 view of our flag being flown upside down; her concern is commendable but I would suggest that she research etiquette and history of the subject.

The practice has been used since the 1800s western frontier expansion as a signal that the fort, post, ship or otherwise is in distress. It is not disrespectful in any manner.

Be well assured that this country is in distress. Just look around you very well. Liberalism will ruin all of us.

Sincere regards from a Cold War veteran,
