Five Hurt In Two-Car Crash Near BurketBURKET - Five people were injured in a two-car accident Wednesday night near Burket.
The cars collided at the intersection of CRs 600W and 500S near Burket around 10:24 p.m. Wednesday.
According to the Kosciusko County Sheriff's Department, a 1988 Buick Regal, driven by Eric B. Salyer, 18, of Claypool, was westbound on CR 500S when he pulled into the path of a northbound 2004 Pontiac Gran Prix, driven by Bruce K. Tillman Jr., 18, Claypool.Salyer and a passenger in his car, Christopher Sexton, 15, of Burket, both were unconscious at the scene of the crash and were airlifted to Parkview Hospital, Fort Wayne. Salyer and Sexton were listed in serious condition this morning.
Two passengers in Tillman's car, Nicholas S. Trier, 17, of Warsaw, and Colt Johnson, 16, of Mentone, suffered unknown injuries and were taken to Kosciusko Community Hospital, Warsaw. No other information was available about their injuries or conditions this morning.
Tillman suffered minor bleeding, but refused treatment at the scene of the crash.
The Kosciusko County crash investigation team was called to the accident and continues to investigate. Drug and alcohol tests are pending.
It is unknown if any of the people in the crash were wearing seatbelts at the time of the accident.
Members of the Mentone EMS, Burket Fire Department, Multi-Township EMS and the Kosciusko County Sheriff's Department responded to the scene.
