SYRACUSE -ÊFive homes were damaged and two vehicles were destroyed after a fire Tuesday at 1:38 p.m.
There were no injuries.
According to Syracuse Fire Department Chief Larry Hunter, the fire began at the summer home of Allan Lane, 510 Oak St., Oakwood Park. The fire then spread from the two-story house to the attic of a house belonging to Maxine Kiessling, Fort Wayne. The fire was contained in the attic of the Kiessling home. The extreme heat of the fire caused the siding of three other houses to warp.
The two vehicles destroyed included a 1994 Mercury mini-van owned by Charles Lane, Franklin, and a 1999 Ford Explorer, owned by Colleen Boliska.
Hunter said there was no damage estimate yet and the fire was believed to be caused by electrical problems.
The occupants of the Lane house were out on a walk when the fire began.
Assisting Syracuse were North Webster and Milford fire departments. Approximately 30 men were at the scene.
