CLAYPOOL -- Five people escaped serious injury after an accident caused the vehicle they were in to roll over several times, hit a utility pole and down power lines.
Tuesday just after noon, Lara Popenfoose, 35, Warsaw, was northbound on CR 200W just south of CR 600S when she lost control of the front end of her 2007 GMC Yukon, she told police.
The warning light came on as she was cresting a hill on CR 200W, she said, while a witness reported seeing all four tires of Popenfoose’s vehicle come off the ground.
Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department reported that the vehicle struck a KREMC utility pole which caused power lines to come down and then rolled several times in a field.
Popenfoose along with four 17-year olds, Arissa Caudill, Monica Mullins, and Daniel and Samantha Holbrook, all of Warsaw, complained of pain.
Crews were on scene for about an hour and a half to clean up the downed power lines and the accident.
