The sanctuary of the Warsaw Evangelical Presbyterian Church was the setting for an Eagle Court of Honor since "duty to God" is the first part of the Boy Scout oath.
Five Boy Scouts of Troop 715 received their Eagle Rank during a formal ceremony in front of a full house of family, friends and guests.
Members of Troop 715 conducted the opening flag ceremony, led by Fred Rogers playing a bagpipe. Life Scout Chris Kolanowski welcomed the crowd and introduced Troop Chaplain Jon Tinkey, who led the Invocation. Anthony Wayne Area Council Field Director Jim Molebash spoke about "What is an Eagle Scout."
Scoutmaster Richard McCleary then introduced the Eagle Honor Guard: Thomas Friddle, 2004 Eagle Scout; Mike Meadows, 2007 Eagle Scout; Preston Moudy, 2004; Patrick Olson, 2007; and Taylor Zigon, 2007. The Eagle Honor Guard retrieved the five candidates, introduced each, and gave a brief scouting history of each.
Jean Northenor, who has been assisting the Troop since 1982, presented Dr. Ronald Manahan, president of Grace College and Seminary, as the special guest speaker for the event. Lincolnway District Eagle Chairman Ken Locke gave the "Eagle Charge" and District Scout Chairman Bill Curl read a poem titled "An Eagle Scout." A video followed, showing the five candidates from Tiger Cub Scouts through their Boy Scout career.
Troop Advancement Chairman Scott McClintock and Troop Committee Chairman Keith Lafountain presented the Eagle Rank pin to: Adam Becker, son of Bill and Deb; Cameron Carter, son of Tom and Michele; Jordan Friddle, son of Bob and Nancy; Landon Slone, son of Will and Michele; and Trent Sumwalt, son of Dan and Jaimie Lynn.
Letters of congratulation were received from Warsaw Mayor Wiggins, Indiana Lt. Governor Becky Skillman, Indiana State Sen. Ryan Mishler, Indiana Rep. David Wolkins, U.S. Sen. Richard Lugar and U.S. Rep. Mark Souder.
The new Eagle Scouts then presented their parents with Mom and Dad Eagle pins, after which Jean Northenor read a poem titled "The Boy Scout's Mother Asked."
A reception followed in the church's fellowship hall.
