Fisher Files Alibi Defense

Posted

Ralph "Fred" Fisher has an alibi for the time that Kathy Vroman was murdered, according to documents filed Friday in Kosciusko Circuit Court.

Fisher, 47, of Goshen, is expected to go on trial later this month for the murder of Vroman, 48, of Milford.

Fisher's attorney, Thomas Leatherman of Goshen, filed the intent to employ the defense of alibi contending that Fisher's time can be accounted for from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Jan. 15, 2001. Vroman is believed to have been murdered prior to 1 p.m. on that date and, "therefore it would be impossible for (Fisher) to have committed this crime."

Fisher's son, Jason Fisher, 23, of Millersburg, was originally charged in Vroman's death. He has since said his father was the triggerman in the shooting death of Vroman, who was employed by the younger Fisher.

Charges remain pending against Jason Fisher, who was recently released from custody because his right to a speedy trial was violated, according to Judge Rex Reed.

Leatherman previously filed motions for dismissal of the charges against Ralph Fisher, a matter which will be heard Monday. The trial for his case is set to begin March 18.
