First Responders Get $178,000 Anti-Terror Grant

Posted

Emergency Management Director Ed Rock told the Kosciusko County Commissioners Tuesday the county received a check for approximately $178,000 from the state for counter-terrorism equipment for First Responders.

The county may receive another approximately $58,000 at a later date.

To spend the check the county already received, Rock needed the commissioners' approval.

With that much money received for specific equipment, the commissioners wanted more time to review the matter.

The commissioners tabled the receipt of grant monies to their Jan. 30 meeting.

Health Department Administrator Bob Weaver requested the commissioners to increase the cost of a copy of a birth certificate from $4 per copy to $7 for the first two copies and $7 for each additional set of copies. The state now has a different form for birth certificates, which costs more. The commissioners approved the increase as well as the reappointment of Dr. Karen Boling and Dr. Wymond Wilson to the county health board.
