The parks department will help city resident see the rocket's red glare and the bombs bursting in air this Fourth of July.
Corporate donation for the annual fireworks display at Kosciusko County Fairgrounds have totalled $17,500. But the plans are for a pyrotechnic show costing $20,000, according to Park Board President Don Clemens.
"We still need to come up with $2,500, and since the city, not the parks department, budgets contain the money, we're looking at possibly using park rental fees, or finding other funds within the the current budget," he said.
Activities director Andy McCleary said he has $1,500 in his activities budget that could be used for the fireworks program, and the board unanimously approved that expenditure.
The parks department will contact the County Visitors Bureau and the Warsaw Community Development Corp. about donating the additional $500 needed.
In other business, the board authorized continued planning of a small neighborhood park on land the city acquired in conjunction with the Logan Street extension project.
McCleary also announced the the Northwest Indiana District of Carpenters is donating the labor for the construction of the new half-pipe structure at the Mantis Skate Park in the Boggs Industrial Park.
