Morris Jones (R) of Silver Lake Fire Department was named Fireman of the Year during the 53rd annual Kosciusko County Firemen's Association fish fry and banquet. A 10-year member of the SLFD, Morris is currently chief and has also served as assistant chief, lieutenant and training officer. In accepting his award, Jones thanked his fellow firefighters and said others in attendance deserved it more than he. "I guess my motto is to try and try hard," Morris said. Pictured presenting the award is Mitch Rader, president of the KCFA. The KCFA was established in 1945 as an organization for mutual aid and comprises members of all 14 county fire departments.
