Fire Marshal Seeks Injunction To Close RC's Pier

Posted

Citing failure to comply with orders of the State Fire Marshal, a lawsuit was filed Monday against a Syracuse business, and a state official wants the business closed until the problems are corrected.

According to court documents, RC's Pier was issued an order on May 4, 1998, citing four violations, and the business was given 10 days to correct those problems.

The lawsuit claims that the violations were not taken care of within the noted timeframe and State Fire Marshal M. Tracy Boatwright wants an order issued in Kosciusko Circuit Court for the owners of the business, Richard and Cinda Eyer, to comply with the terms of the order.

Among the citations were that the business was to apply for an amusement/entertainment permit annually; that the furnace room was to be cleaned out and that no combustible merchandise, material or equipment be stored there; that a nonworking emergency light be repaired; and that carbon dioxide tanks needed to be anchored.

The lawsuit seeks that the business cease operations until the violations are corrected.

RC's Pier is a bar on East Pickwick Drive in Syracuse. The business was granted renewal of its liquor licenses March 2.
