NORTH WEBSTER - A North Webster couple died this morning in a house fire near Backwater Road and CR 900E.
Jack E. Robinette and his wife, Barbara, were pronounced dead at the scene of the fire by Kosciusko County Coroner John Sadler. The fire gutted the Robinette home.
North Webster Fire Department responded to the 1:37 a.m. call to 27 EMS W27 Lane to find the Robinette home fully engulfed by flames. They immediately called for assistance.
Pierceton Fire Department was called on full assist with firefighters, a tanker and pumper. With the fire under control, firefighters found the burned bodies of both victims in the bedroom area of the home.
A pet dog and cat also died in the fire.
Officials believe the fire started in the southwest corner of the home. No further information was available this morning concerning the victims or the cause of the fire.
Investigating at the scene were Kosciusko County Sheriff's Department, Indiana State Fire Marshal and the Kosciusko County Squad 70 Fire Investigation Team.
The fire remains under investigation.
