Five mobile homes are a complete loss after a Saturday morning fire at one trailer had a domino effect on neighboring lots.
Leesburg Fire Chief Jared Haughee said his department got a call at 5:35 a.m. Saturday to head to 175 EMS C23 Lane, Warsaw, for a mobile home on fire.
As fire crews were en route, Haughee said central dispatch said three mobile homes were now on fire. By the time they arrived, five were burning.
All five of the mobile homes are a complete loss, Haughee said, and a sixth one has minor damage.
Crews were able to get the fire under control in about an hour and didn’t leave the scene for four hours.
Estimated damage is calculated at about $50,000 per trailer, and the cause of the fire is under investigation. Haughee said with the amount of damage, it may take some time to figure out what caused the fire.
One occupant had a minor burn on his foot and he took himself to the doctor, Haughee said.
Leesburg was assisted by Warsaw-Wayne Fire Territory and Winona Lake and North Webster fire departments.
