NORTH WEBSTER - A North Webster mobile home was destroyed this morning in a fire 1-1/2 miles east of North Webster, south of Backwater Road.
North Webster Fire Department responded to the 4:16 a.m. call to 5237 N. CR 925E to find the mobile home engulfed by flames.
The occupants of the home were already outside the structure when the fire department arrived. The home belonged to Maynard Hancock of North Webster.
A Pierceton Fire Department water tanker was put on standby, but later stood down when North Webster firemen had the fire under control. Fire fighters remained at the scene for three hours.
Investigators indicate that the fire resulted from a heating blanket short in an unoccupied bedroom.
North Webster EMS was automatically dispatched to the scene of the fire. No injuries were reported.
