Leesburg and Atwood firefighters battled a blaze this morning at a house at 3682 W. CR 700N. The structure was owned by Carl and Barbara Diehl and rented by Michael Caverly. Firefighters were called to that location about 10 p.m. Thursday for an electrical problem that resulted in some insulation being on fire, according to Leesburg Fire Chief Terry Epply. The area was dug out and the fire was extinguished, but the fire apparently rekindled sometime before 5 a.m. today. Caverly had left the home for the night and this morning's fire was called in by a passerby. Warsaw Fire Department also assisted at the scene. Firefighters remained on the scene until about 8 a.m. As of press time, firefighters were at the residence for a third time to put out another rekindling. Damage was estimated at $35,000 to $40,000 and the American Red Cross is assisting the family with locating clothing and shelter. Photo by Gary Nieter, Times-Union
