Fire Damages Warsaw Home

Posted

An estimated $100,000 damage resulted after a fire Thursday that is believed to have started in a clothes dryer of a Warsaw residence.

Warsaw firefighters responded to a 1 p.m. call to the John and Jill Sand residence at 366 Eastridge Place in Willie's Eastridge Addition. A neighbor called the fire department after seeing smoke rising from the home.

When firefighters arrived, there was smoke rising from the rear of the home and, after entry was made and it was determined nobody was at home, the fire was found in the basement laundry room. The fire was isolated to the clothes dryer, according to Warsaw Fire Department Inspector Michael Wilson, who also said that the home sustained heavy heat damage in the basement and smoke damage throughout.
