SYRACUSE - Syracuse, Cromwell and Milford fire departments responded to a house fire at 8888 E. Hatchery Road at 5:47 a.m. Sunday.
The fire destroyed the lakeside cottage co-owned by Gloria Phipps and Suzanne Gilliland, both of Fort Wayne.
Before fire fighters arrived the house was engulfed in flames, according to Syracuse Fire Chief Jerry Byrd.
Byrd called for backup from Cromwell and Milford fire departments en route to the scene when a neighbor called 911 to report the fire had burnt through the house roof.
Officials reported the fire spread from the first house to two neighboring homes, burning the exterior of each.
The names of the owners of the neighboring homes were not available this morning.
No injuries were reported in connection with the fire.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation. A damage estimate was not available at press time.
