An estimated $10,000 in damage was caused in a South Buffalo Street office after a coffee maker was inadvertently left on when employees left for the night.
Warsaw Fire Chief Ken Shepherd said firefighters were on the scene of the 8 p.m. fire at New Frontiers, 630 S. Buffalo St., for about 45 minutes. The fire was under control in about 10 minutes, but firefighters remained on the scene checking for hot spots and digging through debris. About 20 firemen were at the scene.
The building is owned by Howard Koenighof. The fire started after the liquid dried up in the coffee pot and the heat caused papers on a file cabinet to ignite. Although there are several offices at 630 S. Buffalo St., New Frontiers is in a separate building than the others and the fire was contained to that building.
