Fire Damages Leesburg Home

LEESBURG - No injuries were reported in a house fire that occurred at 4:30 a.m. today in Leesburg.

According to Leesburg Fire Department Chief Terry Eppley, the fire caused approximately $50,000 in damages to the residence of Kenneth Graff Jr., 201 E. Van Buren St., Leesburg.

The cause of fire is being blamed on an extension cord to a space heater.

Graff already had left for work when the fire began. His wife woke up, smelling smoke, and saw the couch on fire. She attempted to put the fire out, but after failing to do so, left the home with her daughter. She then went to her in-laws' home, across the street, and reported the fire from there. A passing motorist also reported the fire.

Milford Fire Department provided Leesburg with tanker assistance and manpower of about eight to 10 men. LFD had about 16 to 18 men on the scene.
