Independence Day is this weekend.

Here are upcoming holiday events, including fireworks, alphabetically by town or lake:



Akron

A firecracker 5K event is scheduled for Saturday at Akron Elementary School. Registration is from 7 to 8 a.m. The 5K walk starts at 8 a.m., with the 1-Mile Fun Run starting at 8:15 a.m. and a 5K run starting at 8:30 a.m.

The fireman's pancake breakfast will be from 8 a.m. to noon Sunday.

A parade will be Sunday, starting at 2 p.m. Lineup begins at noon. Route is from East Rochester to North Mishawaka.

Fireworks will be at 10 p.m. Sunday at Pike Memorial Park.



Chapman Lake

Chapman Lake Conservation Association will hold an Independence Day parade starting at 8 p.m. today. This year’s theme is “Salute to the American Farmer.” Lineup will begin at 7 p.m. at the Chapman Lake Clubhouse.

Chapman Lake will have fireworks from 10 to 11 p.m.  Saturday. The Fourth of July show begins at dusk. The rain date is Sunday.



Etna Green

The Etna Elevator will host fireworks starting at dusk Saturday at Heritage Park.

There will be a parade at 11 a.m. Saturday, starting at the fire station. Lineup will begin at 10 a.m.



Leesburg

The Tippecanoe Property Owners Association will have fireworks starting at about 10:30 p.m. Saturday at Tippecanoe Lake.



North Manchester

Manchester University, Manchester Community Schools and the town of North Manchester will have the 2021 Independence Day Celebration and Fireworks Display at Manchester High School on Saturday.

The rain date is Sunday.

The free celebration kicks off at 7 p.m. with the Manchester Civic Band. Families and individuals are encouraged to come early to find a spot. Lawn chairs or blankets will make viewing more comfortable.

Parking is available at Manchester High School, Manchester Administrative Building and Manchester Recreation Association lots.

The North Manchester Fire Department will light up the sky with fireworks over the high school baseball field about 10 p.m.



North Webster

The Webster Lake Conservation Association will hold fireworks on Webster Lake at 10 p.m. Saturday.



Silver Lake

Silver Lake Conservation Association will have a pontoon parade at 3 p.m. Sunday.



Syracuse

Wawasee Property Owners Association will hold the Wawasee Flotilla at 11:30 a.m. Saturday.

WPOA also will have fireworks starting at 10:15 p.m. Saturday.



Winona Lake

Winona Lake will hold a Fourth of July parade Saturday at 6 p.m., starting at the Limitless Park. The theme is “Past, Present and Future.” Town Manager Craig Allebach said there will be no kiddie or cutie contests, but everything else should be the same. At 10 p.m. Saturday, there will be fireworks.

At 9 a.m. Saturday, there will be a myTEAM Triumph 5K at Limitless Park.

The Wagon Wheel Symphony of the Lakes will present a free, full-length patriotic “Salute to America” concert at Tabernacle Field in Winona Lake, across from the Boathouse, at 8 p.m. Saturday, just preceding the town’s fireworks display.

Winona Lake Flotilla is “Celebrating the Red, White & Blue” for its 2021 theme.

Preregister at the Winona Lake Town Hall, and the registration form can be turned in at the town office or to a committee member.

Lineup is at 4:30 p.m. Sunday at Winona Lake beach, with the parade starting at 5 p.m.
