Warsaw, Winona Lake and Syracuse firefighters will participate in a “Fill-The-Boot” fundraiser to benefit the Muscular Dystrophy Association Saturday.
Firefighters will be out with their boots in hand so motorists and passersby can give their dollars and change to help firefighters support the MDA.
MDA is a voluntary health agency working to defeat more than 40 neuromuscular diseases through worldwide research, comprehensive medical and community services and far-reaching professional and public health education.
Last year during the program, firefighters raised $210,000 in northeast Indiana for area children and adults battling neuromuscular disorders.
Funds raised annually through the program are critical to MDA’s provision of services to more than 500 individuals living with neuromuscular disease in northeast Indiana.
MDA provides annual summer camp week at Camp Potawotomi for youngsters with muscular dystrophy, repair of durable medical equipment, support groups and seminars and research for causes and cures of muscular dystrophy.
