Filing Ends For School Board Elections

Posted
Filing ended at noon Friday for three area school board elections.

While Warsaw and Triton will have at least one contested race each, candidates for Wawasee are unopposed.

Warsaw School Corp. has three board seats up for election Nov. 4, and two of those positions are contested.

Dan J. Robinson, Deer Trail, Warsaw is the current District 3 board member and vice president. He is up for re-election against challenger Herb Bailey, EMS C31 Lane, Warsaw.

Incumbent Chuck Sauders, Packerton Road, Warsaw, must face off against current Kosciusko County Treasurer Kent Adams, Wooster Road, Winona Lake, for the District 4 board seat.

The only uncontested Warsaw School Board race is for District 6. Deborah Wiggins, Meadow Lane, Warsaw, is running for re-election for that seat.

In the Wawasee School Board race, voters can vote for two candidates and not more than one candidate in each of three possible districts. However, only two candidates have filed to run for school board, and each candidate is in a different district, leaving them unopposed.

Both Wawasee candidates are incumbents. George W. Gilbert, Lung Lane, Syracuse, is in Turkey Creek Township, District 2, while Dallas Winchester, Schenkel Drive, Milford, is in Van Buren Township, District 3.

For the Triton School Board races, two candidates have filed for the Bourbon Township race, while only one has filed for the at-large seat.

Candidates for the Bourbon Township seat are Amy E. Middaugh, 12th Road, Bourbon, and Randy Glingle, Ind. 331, Bourbon. The district 3 race is Marshall County only.

The at-large candidate is Richard A. Trowbridge, North Thayer Street, Bourbon. The race is for Marshall County and Etna Township in Kosciusko County.

The fall election filing period started July 23 and ended Friday.

Tippecanoe Valley, Whitko and Wa-Nee held their school board elections in the May primary.
