An afternoon of fighting between two brothers ended Tuesday when one allegedly stabbed and cut the other with a Swiss army knife.
Joseph Anglin, 18, of 54 EMS B34 Lane, Warsaw, is being held in the Kosciusko County Jail on charges of criminal recklessness and aggravated battery. Bond is set at $5,000.
Anglin is accused of stabbing his 16-year-old brother, Mathew Anglin, in the right side of the abdomen and cutting Mathew's left arm between the wrist and the elbow. Mathew was taken to Kosciusko Community Hospital, Warsaw, for treatment.
The teens' mother, who was not home at the time of the incident, called police about 3:30 p.m.
According to a Kosciusko County Sheriff's Department report, the brothers were fighting throughout the day, resting between bouts. When a physical confrontation began a fourth time, it reportedly got out of hand and resulted in Joseph retrieving a Swiss army knife that he put into his pocket. Joseph then reportedly caught his younger brother destroying some of Joseph's personal property and pointed the knife at him.
Mathew ran into a bathroom. While trying to make Mathew exit the bathroom, Joseph reportedly pushed the knife forward, stabbing Mathew in the abdomen. Mathew then allegedly tried to punch his brother and, while throwing the punch, Joseph raised the knife and sliced Mathew's arm.
Mathew went to a neighbor's house for help and Joseph allegedly went down to the lake and threw the knife into the water before fleeing the area. He was apprehended a short time later.
Information for a possible charge of battery against Mathew Anglin was forwarded to the prosecutor for review.
