Fifth Annual Elementary Robotics Showcase Is March 14The Fifth Annual Elementary Robotics Showcase will take place from 10 a.m. to noon March 14 at the Warsaw Community High School Tiger Recreational and Activity Center (TRAC).
The showcase is designed to inspire students to be innovative as they program and engineer solutions to the new engineering and programming challenge of Lego soccer, according to a news release from Warsaw Community Schools.
Everyone in attendance will be encouraged to participate by getting up close and involved as they learn about what students have discovered and accomplished. The purpose of the event is to further progress STEM education in WCS so that more students are given exposure to career possibilities and ignite passions that many of them have in engineering and programming, the release states. All fourth- to sixth-grade students from all eight elementary schools in WCS are able to participate.
Volunteers are needed to help by refereeing the games showcased at the robotics event. David Burden, Brock Rhodes and Josh Wall are organizing the event and will oversee all volunteers and participants. All volunteers will be given a free T-shirt and complimentary coffee and doughnuts for the showcase. The responsibility for volunteers is simply to help make sure students play fairly, take turns and have fun doing it.
The elementary robotics showcase is free to the entire community. WCS invites the community to come out and cheer on the next generation of engineers, programmers, innovators and problem-solvers.
