A combine cutting beans in a North Webster field caught fire Monday afternoon after 3 p.m. North Webster Fire Department responded to the field at CRs 300N and 475E at 3:40 p.m. Due to high winds, the fire jumped across the road into two cornfields. It took crews nearly two hours to extinguish the fires. There was roughly five acres of damaged area. NWFD was assisted by Leesburg, Pierceton and Winona Lake fire departments and a local farmer.
