Fern E. Quine, 89, went to be with the Lord at 8:08 a.m. June 3, 2012, in her residence in The Hearth at Tudor Gardens, Zionsville.
She was born April 22, 1923, in Pennville, to David Robert and Mary Ellen Miller Taylor. On June 21, 1941, she married Donald L. Quine, who survives.
His family moved to Warsaw in 1937. After World War II ended, she and Donald settled in Kosciusko County and eventually bought a house in Winona Lake. They remained in the Warsaw area until moving to Zionsville to be closer to their daughter. Donald was serving in the U.S. Air Corp and after his marriage he was allowed to live off base so she went with him until he was sent out of the country. She studied music and taught piano, organ and vocal lessons for 30 years. She was a 1941 graduate of Warsaw High School. She was active in her church with her musical talent and taught Sunday school. She was a member of Winona Lake Grace Brethren Church since 1984 and a former member of Warsaw American Legion Auxiliary and Women of the Moose. She was a very devoted wife, mother and homemaker.
Also surviving are a daughter, Deana C. Quine, Indianapolis; a son, Douglas (and spouse Wendy) Quine, Victorville, Calif.; four grandchildren, Jason (and spouse Karen) Smith and Shera (and spouse Jermaine) Chaney, all of Indianapolis, and Adam and Jennifer Quine, both of California; and 14 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Michael Quine; a granddaughter, Laura Quine; four brothers, Burl, Oren, Dean and Ralph E. Taylor; and her parents.
Services will be at noon Saturday at Titus Funeral Home, Warsaw, officiated by Pastor Tom Miller and Dr. D. Brent Sandy of Winona Lake Grace Brethren Church. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.
