Ferguson Response

Editor, Times-Union:
The letter to Mr. Gerard titled "Ferguson" indicates support is needed for police and the rule of law.
I am irate over the media coverage of events in Ferguson, Missouri. It's time they stop the inaccurate biased reporting geared to ignite unrest and feed the media new stories.
The repeated reports that Mr. Brown was "an unarmed black youth shot by a white police officer" are not factually correct. Mr. Brown was fleeing the scene of a robbery, after assaulting the store owner, and was fatally wounded while attacking the officer in question.
In addition, the slogan of "hands up, don't shoot" is a facade. Eye witness testimony along with forensic evidence has proven Mr. Brown did not have his hands up.
The arsonists, looters and those shutting down holiday commerce should be arrested in lieu of given a free pass. Officials need to make it blatantly clear that arson and stealing from innocent store owners will not be tolerated.
Endeavoring to be politically correct by turning a blind eye to the facts surrounding this case encourage the illegal activities continuation.
Mr. Gerard was correct when stating the solution is easy. Just do what you're told by the cops. Any issues can be resolved after the fact. Doing so would have prevented this farce.
