Ferdinand Dean Hand

FORT SMITH, Ariz. – Ferdinand Dean Hand, 91, of Fort Smith, Ariz., and formerly of Warsaw, died Nov. 28, 2011, in Fort Smith.

He was born Aug. 21, 1920, in Elkhart, to Charles Elemuel and Minnie Helbling Hand. He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Barbara Hand.

He was a member of Gideon International and a Hospice volunteer. He was former song director for First Church of the Nazarene, Hot Spring, Ariz., and was a U.S. Navy veteran.

Also surviving are two daughters, Jeanene Godwin, Fort Smith, and Nellie (and spouse John) Moseley, Williamsburg, Va.; a son, Fred Hand, Pensacola, Fla.; two brothers, William and John Hand, both of Warsaw; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Edwards Funeral Home, Fort Smith. Burial will be in the U.S. National Cemetery.
