Fellowship Missions to Help Kentucky Tornado Victims

Posted
A local organization that serves the homeless will give back to those in Kentucky who have been effected by the recent tornadoes.

Fellowship Missions residents will be traveling to Salyersville, Ky., this weekend to assist victims who have been devastated by the tornado.

Fellowship Missions is  an organization that serves homeless men and women in Warsaw.

There will be eight residents at Fellowship Missions who will leave tonight and return Monday.

Eric Lane, Fellowship Missions director, also will travel with the group to Kentucky.

“I have been wanting to provide the residents with an experience to serve on a missions trip and this is a good opportunity,” Lane said.

“People have helped the residents who live here and in return they want to help others.”

While Fellowship Missions residents are in Kentucky they will assist in cleanup efforts, serve food to tornado victims, and bring canned food and non-perishable items.

Lane said he and three men who live at the homeless shelter previously went to Boloxi, Miss., to aid in Hurricane Katrina cleanup.

Those traveling to Kentucky will have a blog to provide updates on the trip at fellowshipmissions.net

John Schoetzow, along with wife Laura and sons Cody and Brandon, all residents at the homeless shelter, will travel to Kentucky with the group.

John said he assisted with tornado relief efforts previously in Nappanee and is looking forward to helping cleanup in Kentucky.

“I want to help others because my family has been helped so much,” John said.
